Terms and Conditions are updated along with companion Short Form version. Effective from the 1st July 2024 these new versions supersede all previously published.

Key changes implemented from 1st July 2024 are:-

• The introduction of a 100% Cancellation Fee for Cancellation of a Confirmed Booking, along with alterations to how Date Changes are dealt with.

• The removal of Covid-19 guidance.

• Alterations to example calculations for different types of days.

• Changes to how Overtime is dealt with after 15 hours of work on a Standard Working Day and after 12 hours on a Continuous Working Day.

• The introduction of a 2x Weekend and Bank Holiday Rate for Sundays and Bank Holidays (Saturdays remain at a 1.5x rate).

• Bookings with a call time before 5am or after 5pm are now classified as Night Shoots and new Night Shoot Rates apply to them.

• The Local Travel Zone for London based jobs has been re-defined to be within the boundaries of Transport for London’s travel zones 1-4.

• Updates regarding Overnight Stays and Travel Days.

• Changes to to Payment Terms.

• The introduction of a 15% insurance premium on equipment hire from The Photographic Technician unless the client has adequate insurance cover in place.

After feedback from our members and some representatives in the industry the Recommended Terms and Conditions had some minor adjustments.

If you join Photographic Technicians Branch of Bectu in July you will pay £7.50 for the first year. A saving of £30 across the year! 

In year 2 you will pay £10 per month, increasing in small increments on a banded system for following years. 

IR35 affects off-payroll working rules for clients, workers (contractors) and their intermediaries.

 BECTU created a document specifically for our branch to explain how IR35 works and what you can do if you feel that you are being taxed incorrectly by a client.

Information about IR35 from HMRC

The Branch felt it was useful to have a summary sheet of COVID-19 information that could be easily referenced for technicians and clients alike.

Agreement to the short form Terms and Conditions is by default agreement to all details in the full Terms and Conditions.

After many months of meetings and draft revisions the first Bectu Photographic Technicians Branch Terms & Conditions 2021  is complete and ready for use.
